Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Harry Belafonte 115th Street Library - Library Helper needed

Do you love books and organizing and helping out?  Our Harry Belafonte 115th Street Library is looking for a responsible adult to help them with shelving books and other tasks.  This volunteer position is available Mondays, Tuesdays  or Wednesdays from 10am - 1pm.  Please email volunteer@nypl.org to express your interest. 

Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library Readers Program

We have a number of patrons at our Braille Library in need of a Volunteer Reader. Some volunteer openings are in person at the Braille Library and some are virtual via phone or Zoom. We are specifically looking for a local person, Spanish - speaking, who can come to the library on Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm. We also need a very tech / computer savvy volunteer who hopefully speaks Arabic. Days and times for that opening are flexible. We are hoping to find someone with basic knowledge of Hebrew who can work with a patron over the phone doing some light editing of a short manuscript, weekdays except Friday. Lastly, we need a volunteer who has a math background or loves math concepts to assist a patron who needs a math textbook read to them on weekday afternoons / early evenings. ITALIAN LANUGAGE TUTOR - Morris Park

Are you fluent in Italian? Would you like to share your love of the Italian language with others?
Morris Park Library is looking for someone to lead a program helping others to learn basic Italian on Mondays at 11am.

KNIT or CROCHET TUTOR - Tremont Library

Are you experienced at knitting or crocheting? Would you like to share your enthusiasm with others? Tremont Library would love to have a volunteer-led program twice a month on Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm.  (Other times are possible.)
