Event Description

What can we do to foster intergenerational friendship in our communities?

Generational turnover often seems to occur very rapidly in queer communities. For a variety of reasons, spanning from the legacy of AIDS to disability and access issues in community spaces, older LGBT people often go unconsidered, being relegated to historical footnotes, while many young queers navigate their communities without the benefit of elder queer role-models.

This community conversation, facilitated by Ada Wilderman and Nico Fuentes,  will ask what we can we do to foster intergenerational love and friendship in our communities. How do we identify and then bridge the divides between generations that have so much to share with each other? What spaces currently exist to nurture these connections, proudly and in public? And what sorts of spaces can we create to ensure more such connections are made?
