Join us for the opening of Made at NYPL, which showcases a small but representative sample of original works that were produced using the Library's unique and extensive research collections—housed across the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

16mm Film Screening | Bed and Sofa with Special Guests Kate Saccone and Ben Model
Take in a rarely seen Soviet-era silent film from 1927 with live piano accompaniment by Ben Model. Set in Moscow during a housing shortage, the comedy Bed and Sofa highlights the circumstances of life lived in close quarters.

Join us as the Roper Center presents a discussion about the 2020 census. Introduction by Tony Marx, president of The New York Public Library.

Busted in New York: Darryl Pinckney with Margo Jefferson
Hear the award-winning author and Cullman Center alum discuss his new book of essays. Topics range from the legacy of James Baldwin to Pinckney's own coverage of landmark moments, including the Million Man March, Barack Obama's first presidential campaign, and the grassroots protests in Ferguson, Missouri. He will be joined by Pulitzer Prize-winning critic and author, Margo Jefferson.

LIVE from the NYPL | Federico García Lorca & Lou Reed: A Celebration of Two Poets in New York
Join Laurie Anderson, Thurston Moore, Anne Waldman, and many others to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Lou Reed's 1989 New York album and the 90th anniversary of García Lorca's 1929 visit to NYC that resulted in his collection Poet in New York. Enjoy readings and discussion, plus music recordings, videos, and photographs from the Lou Reed Archive, part of The New York Public Library's collections. This event is free, but registration is required.
